Great Horned Owl

I have always wanted to see a great horned owl in the wild, and I did get a glimpse of one before, and the baby ones I posted over the summer, but until recently, I have never gotten any pictures of an adult GHO in nature. That changed about a week and a half ago, when we decided to make the trip to Magee Marsh before winter decides to make it’s presence known.  If you’re a birder, Magee Marsh is the place to be in the spring… as long as you don’t mind a crowd, in the winter, it’s not hoppin’  but we go once in awhile just to see what is there and to walk the boardwalk.  We get about halfway into our walk when my husband looks at me and says, “you want your GHO shot?” so I look in the direction he motioned and sure enough there she was, due to the size, I believe it’s a she. I got 2 shots, when she took off, then we noticed she had a muskrat in her talons, thankfully, she did not go too far and I was able to get some decent shots of her.

On our way out, my husband spotted a bald eagle too.

Kepler Christmas Shoot

I got to spend time with some of my favorite people! Even though it was a little chilly, I got one of my favorite pics ever of Maddie, and I can’t believe how much Miss Marabel has grown.
